An unpaid position I apparently accepted without reading the job description. 

I’m starting to think I owe an apology to all the TV shows and real life people who are event planners. 

Because apparently being the daughter means you’re automatically drafted as a professional coordinator.

Between making things, organizing things, double checking seating placements approximately a million times, I’m now adding event planner to my resume. 

Though I don’t exactly hate it. 

Maybe a little annoyed but that’s about it. 

Thinking back on everything, there is something oddly satisfying about watching everything slowly come together. 

For months, the wedding was just a date on the calendar, now we have decorations, seating arrangements, projects, lists, and about twenty other things that are screaming for attention before the actual ceremony. 

And somehow, I’ve become involved in all of it. 

How that happened is beyond me, but one minute I was helping my mom with small things and then the next, I’m double checking tables, making sure everything is exactly where it’s supposed to be. 

Apparently, I’ve gotten a promotion. 

Though I don’t recall a formal interview for this

No official training

No official title

No paycheck

Just an ever growing list of things to do.

But honestly, I don’t mind. 

It’s a special day for the women who raised me and took care of me. It’s an honor to be a part of the planning—and even the tedious parts. 

Even if that means I’m occasionally staring at a seating chart and tangled up with ribbons. 

So if things are a little quieter around here for the next few weeks, I’ve probably been buried under fabric swatches and flower samples. 

I’m busy being a daughter, an assistant, a decorator, a coordinator, and apparently an event planner now.

And apparently, I accepted this position without asking about the benefits.
